Red Sparrow

Red sparrow

Looking at those houses
Pretty on the outside, contrary on the inside
Red sparrow
Tell what needs to be heard
Domestic violence isn’t a gum
You can throw out when it turns sour
It is an unprepared meat
That stays between the teeth
Quite difficult to remove
These memories are far more difficult to obliterate
Red sparrow
The child’s experiences reek of cattle dung
So do what you do best, gift to her a song
Sing to her of better days that are held up in traffic
Sing to her words of patience,
Sing to her words of hope.
